To control it effectively, take the analgesic prescribed as recommended by the dentist. Do not wait for the discomfort to become severe.

Refrain from heavy exercise for the first week.

Eat a soft or liquid diet the day of the procedure. You gradually return to a normal diet over the next few days.

The material around your teeth is a periodontal dressing. This dressing should not be disturbed or removed before your check-up. If it falls off on its own after a few days, be extra careful not to disturb the healing by avoiding eating at this level.

You can feel your rough palate and this is due to the surgical glue that has been applied. The latter will fall off on its own (it can last from a few days to a few weeks).

If you wear a full or partial upper prosthesis, you must exceptionally keep it for the first two (2) nights following the operation.

Your dentist will see you again in 7-10 days to check for healing and to remove the stitches.

The day of the surgery

Do not rinse or spit to avoid dislodging blood clots.

Do not smoke for 24 hours after surgery, as cigarette smoke delays and impairs healing.

Note that for root coverage (connective tissue) transplants, smokers should refrain from smoking for the first month, otherwise the chances of success may be compromised.

No major bleeding is expected.
